You can now share your Scoops on Pinterest !

If you like Social Media and have not heard of Pinterest yet, you probably took a loooong vacation. Some say it is growing as fast as Facebook; some are already fed up with it but nobody seems indifferent.

Including Scoop.it users who more and more share their scoops on Pinterest; a rising traffic source for Scoop.it pages as you can see at http://pinterest.com/source/scoop.it/ or in this chart.

So as we’ve designed Scoop.it to be the hub of your social media publishing, it won’t surprise you that we’ve been looking at ways to enable sharing to Pinterest more easily. Today, we’re happy to have completed a first step by including the “Pin it” button in the sharing options of a post (just like we added the Google +1 button before).

Over time, we will look at adding both Google + and Pinterest as connected social media accounts just like we do for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WordPress and Tumblr but we didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer.

So now, more than ever, you can make an impact and catch attention with your Scoop.it topic magazines by sharing them everywhere.

And as we look to other connectivity options, just tell us: which social media service would you like us to connect next?

How about HTML code for each of our scoops?

  • http://scoop.it Guillaume Decugis

Thanks for the suggestion. Like an embed code, right?

  • Anonymous

Exactly. I appreciate the WordPress button, but I’d like more control.

  • http://scoop.it Guillaume Decugis

Got you! So I’ve created the idea here: http://feedback.scoop.it/forums/137223-general/suggestions/2625597-embed-a-scoop-through-an-html-code

We had the feedback already and have started looking at how to do it but it’s still in our To Do.

Don’t hesitate to vote it up! Thanks again.

Guys, I LOVE being able to share on G+ and pinterest – but please hurry and add this as social media accounts! It is a lot of extra work to come back after the item is on my page and click the share button then do the g+ and pinterest functions. So I end up NOT doing it and that frustrates me. One of the big advantages is being to share with so many different services that matter to my readers. Thanks for your efforts! I love scoop.it and so do my readers. It has quickly become 15% of my total site’s traffic!

    Thanks for the praise!

The exact status on both G+ and Pinterest as social accounts (and not just sharing options) is as follows:
    - G+ : the write API is not open yet by Google. We need it before we can do that. Not sure when they will open it (we’ve talked to them but they won’t give any dates).
    - Pinterest : the API is one but we’ve had stability issues, probably because it is very recent. I’m sure it will stabilize and that we’ll be able to integrate it as a social account soon.

We’re committe to make it happen and will do so as soon as its within our control. Keep you posted! And thanks again.
