Social Media is easy. But only in theory.
When you get down to the practical things Social Media requires, you realize that a lot of them take time, require some special skills or are simply too complex to bother. While blogging and social networks have now been around for years, the truth is that for a lot of people, using Social Media in a professional way is still anything but a no-brainer; whether your job consists of running a business, pitching new customers, fundraising for a cause, educating students or coaching clients, it usually takes a good 100% of your time, so how can you “do Social Media” on top of that?
The key to solve this includes working on smarter workflows. At Scoop.it, for instance, we realized that having a suggestion engine combined with a bookmarklet for 1-click publishing greatly helped our users. And by adding features like the connections to the social networks they wanted or the ability to rescoop one another’s content, we have taken – and continue to take – steps towards making the whole Social Media Publishing workflow much simpler.
HootSuite is another company that has worked extensively on this workflow problem. By combining monitoring and cross-posting, they’ve built one of the most popular Social Media platforms to date with millions of professional users.
We’re therefore thrilled to be partnering with HootSuite today and to introduce the Scoop.it App for HootSuite. From now on, HootSuite users can combine the powerful stream layout that enables them to monitor various sources of content at once with Scoop.it’s easy content curation capabilities. This means more relevant content but also more visibility for this content when it’s published to your Scoop.it pages, whose topic-centric nature drives on average 3 clicks per visitor and greater discovery from Social and Search. Scoopiteers who already leverage topic-centric content curation to develop their visibility online can now diversify their sources of content by using HootSuite to monitor various content streams, including the topics they follow on Scoop.it or some specific Scoop.it searches to closely monitor their interests.
To install the Scoop.it App for HootSuite, login to HootSuite and visit the App Directory. Or visit this link directly once logged into HootSuite.
As you install the Scoop.it App, you can choose either one or both types of streams: your followed topics and/or a Scoop.it search. This means that you can now leverage Scoop.it’s topic-centric model to narrow down content on specific keywords and benefit from all the great work of the Scoop.it curators to identify the most relevant content you need.
You can add as many streams as you want by simply clicking the Add Stream button and going to Apps:
You’ll quickly build a customized version of your dashboard that helps you monitor at a glance all the streams you need:
But that’s not all!
From any of these streams (Scoop.it, Twitter or Facebook), you can now easily curate content to your Scoop.it topics and benefit from the additional visibility and engagement they will drive.
– Scoop links within tweets:
– Rescoop from your followed topics or your Scoop.it searches:
Give thanks, share directly to your HootSuite connected networks: it’s all there in one place.
Enjoy!
Great news Scoop.it! At HootSuite HQ, we’re pleased to have your fine app in the directory and look forward to using it more to build audience, share stories and find the most compelling stories on the Interwebs.

Excellent, nice to see you expanding possiblities 😀 Thanks.
scoop it very nice tool keep up
The app doesn’t seem to work. I can’t authenticate, keep getting a message of API error. When I contacted Hootsuite on the matter, I was told it was a “known issue” – suggesting the problem isn’t on my side, but rather with the Scoop.it / Hootsuite integration.
Hi there. We had a glitch yesterday that was corrected since then. Please confirm it’s ok now. And very sorry about the inconvenience.
I also have this issue. I don’t get the API error, it just hangs at “logging in.” Where can I manually login to scoopit to force the login? I do have Scoopit opened on another tab and am logged in.
Having the exact same issue, it won’t log into scoop.it
Fabulous. Anything to save time and streamline activities is a plus!
Wow that is excellent – anything to save a few seconds in a day gets my vote – thanks.
Hi there – I see that you can rescoop using this app, but was wondering can you create a new scoop with it?
I have the same question. I don’t curate others’ content much, but I would like to be able to initiate a new scoop directly from Hootsuite. Can you please explain? But then, how would I find your answer!
Yes, you can scoop links directly from tweets for instance: the App also installs a plugin that will add Scoop.it as a sharing option on HootSuite.

Very helpful article. I connected my Scoop.it app in a minute. Thank you very much for this new upgrade!
Nice job !
For the next step, what about Scoop.it and Flipboard integration ? Would love that 😉
I am afraid of that will it work effectively to reach its goal for which it was build.

same here. this bookmarklet never worked for me; I get a login that dies on the vine, even tho I am logged in. I curate a page so this is a major problem for me
is there an answer to this bookmarklet issue? if it helps: I use Mac Mntn Lion, FF latest. Also your Disqus fails to recognize FB or G+ logins here.

That’s amazing Scoop.it.
Just downloaded the Scoop. it app from Hootsuite but all the tab says is “Logging In” but nothing else. What do i need to do?
Hi Gary – Thanks for reporting this. We’ve run some checks and couldn’t reproduce the problem. Could you try reloading your HootSuite dashboard, uninstall / reinstall Scoop.it on HootSuite and see if that works out. If it doesn’t please update us by contacting support here http://feedback.scoop.it so we can help you asap.
downloaded Scoop.it in hootsuite, both Dashboard and Search. Tabs just say Logging In and nothing else. What do I need to do?
Very helpful article. I want to have another look at HootSuite though. This will really help me to schedule it down to a minute on any day at any time. Thanks for this.!
Awesome tips to run your social media promotions from your profile using this. I really thank you for sharing this kind of information with us.
Hello, I have a question : can we create a new scoop directly from hootsuite (other than from tweets) ?
Hi @disqus_6Jagy7sVxy:disqus – You can create a new scoop within HootSuite either from tweets or from scoops. By installing the Scoop.it App for HootSuite, you can add columns for your followed topics or some specific Scoop.it searches and rescoop any content from there.
