Scoop.it’s first mission is to help people publish gorgeous magazines by means of curation – and by doing so, make their passion and expertise be heard and recognized on the web. We endeavor to offer the easiest and most powerful solution to help curators find great content, edit it in engaging magazines, and share it to their Social Media. The rapidly growing community of curators on Scoop.it tells us we are on the right track; we feel this is a valuable mission!
Now, curators and visitors are asking: what about discovering content and curators in Scoop.it too?
More and more curators find inspiration from other curators’ publications; more and more visitors want to dig deeper and access more content related to their interests. We thought we needed to address it better: helping people publish but also helping people discover great curators and curations. More discovery and exchange will make our community and our experience richer!
The latest version of Scoop.it addresses this need by offering four upgrades:
1. New Visual Search
The overwhelming positive feedback we have on Scoop.it is its visual, appealing magazine format. So we now display the search results in our magazine format: just tell us what you are looking for, and we build a media showing the best content, coming from the best topics on your subject of interest. Come search regularly, scan the resulting media, read its content and, if you are pleased or curious, dive deeper into the most interesting topics.
2. User Search
The topic results are still here (they’re in the second tab) but the third tab is also new: it enables to search users.
3. New Post Viewer
The “Post viewer” is where your visitors land when they click on a link you’ve curated. Up to now, it showed your post in a dedicated window; and, underneath, the rest of your topic, providing context and more posts. We enriched it to enable more discovery; it now also indicates:
- engagement around the post from other users, including rescoops to other topics, providing a great way to discover other related topics
- the other topics you curate
- the topics you follow
4. StumbleUpon
Scoop.it works by sharing to other discovery platforms such as social networks or blogs. We are glad to add StumbleUpon to list of supported destinations, alonside Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google +, Tumblr, WordPress and Pinterest.
As always, let us know what you feel about these changes on discovery: they were made to help you be discovered but also allow you to improve your curation with new discoveries, closing the discovery/publishing/curation loop we mentioned earlier. What will you discover today?
