My name is Dimitri. I was born in the South West of France, and still living here for 37 years now. I’m a Web ProjectManager in a software publisher company. I assume being a geek, and I’m the father of 2 lovely girls, 8 years and 8 months old. I’ve always wanted to enter an Art or Design School, but I stopped studying just after high school (with no diploma) in order to work. For 18 years now, I’ve tested almost each job in the computing field as a self-taught person : IT Technician, software developer, Project Manager …Since about 10 years, I’ve been going on the same way concerning Web jobs, being successively Web developer, Webdesigner and Webmaster… Now thinking about it, I guess I’m ready for consulting…
-How did you develop your passions for art, design and technology?
I’ve always liked beautiful things, but I like even more useful beautiful things, maybe that’s my definition of the word Design. The result of Art plus Technologie is often Design.
-How has curation helped you to share your passion with your followers?
Scoop.it got me the chance to share my passion with other people, in a simple and efficient way. Previously I had tried to write blogs but it takes too much time whereas curation is only a pastime. At the beginning, I mostly wanted to please myself, and finally, since the launch of the Scoop.it Beta, support and positive feedback of the users concerning my topics have made this egoistic pleasure becoming an exciting sharing moment. The stress of loosing the audience in addition to that…
I don’t mean that Scoop.it makes it work by itself, but it makes searching, selecting and publishing interesting news very easy.
-What would your advice be to someone who wants to begin curating information on his or her passion?
At the beginning I used to publish news that seemed interesting, without thinking about my own taste. Then I realized it wouldn’t work in the end. So I started to publish mostly things I liked. That’s when the appropriation of the topic is strong. It becomes really personal, adding feelings. So my first advice would be to add feelings in the adventure. Then what seems important to me is to use pictures in the publication, and the Scoop.it interface makes it very easy. The paradox is that the best way to get new readers is to publish a picture.
-How has curating information on art, design and technology enriched your social media presence and overall experience?
My presence has got really better thanks to Scoop.it because only one click is necessary to share on the social network. Moreover, Scoop.it is very well listed by the search engines, so bonus!
-What are some of your favorite topics that you follow on Scoop.it?
My favourite topics are Café Racers, Girls and I wish I’d thought of that.
